LA Confidential interviews Kent Moyer – Privacy is Luxury
001 IS THE BEST PROTECTION YOU CAN GET
BUT FEW WILL EVER HAVE IT.
– KENT MOYER
Today we are speaking with world-acclaimed security and Executive Protection expert Kent Moyer, CEO of The World Protection Group and 001 (WPG & 001).
Q: Kent, can you tell us a bit about your background?
A: My first job in this industry was working for Playboy, protecting Mr. Hugh Hefner and his family at the Playboy Mansion. Today, I am CEO of The World Protection Group and its luxury company 001, a luxury Executive Protection company that specializes in protecting high-net-worth and celebrity clients. I graduated from Wharton Business School in Advanced Management and also studied Strategic Management of Luxury Businesses at Wharton and at the SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan, Italy. I work extensively in law enforcement as a specialist in Executive Protection and Intelligence. In June I am currently enrolled to attend HEC Paris Business School to study with Professor Jean-Noel Kapferer in an Advanced Luxury class. The course consists of one week in Paris and one week in Shanghai.
Q: Tell us about your new company, 001.
A: 001 is the American Express Black Card of Executive Protection and is the first luxury company in the Executive Protection industry. Over the past twenty years, I have studied many luxury brands, such as Armani, Porsche, Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., and Pagani, and I wanted to reproduce the “Gold Standard Service” in the Executive Protection industry. It was created with The Ritz-Carlton Gold Standard of Service model, which espouses a style of sophisticated customer service in which each of our employees has been trained and whose principals have heavily inspired how 001 operates. It is a first in the Executive Protection industry.
Q: The World Protection Group & 001 are known for protecting clients’ privacy and confidentiality as well as their physical security. Can you tell us a bit about how you do this?
A: Celebrities and high net worth individuals have their personal information hacked on a regular basis. A recent example was Jeff Bezos who is the richest person in America. Famous people are targets. We believe that Executive Protection starts with their privacy and confidentiality. Privacy is luxury. We have a sophisticated system that we start with to remove personal information from the internet and social media. Here are some of the things we do for our clients:
- Assessment of your personal information online exposure
- Remove your personal information from public databases
- Control your privacy settings
- Provide disinformation to conceal real information
- Using fake names, e-mails, phone numbers, and credit cards
- Apply proper security settings for your devices
- Stop data brokers to stop sharing your information
- Remove your landline and cellular telephone numbers from online websites
- Use a credit freeze to eliminate identity theft and fraud
- Set-up fully encrypted communications and set-up anonymous phones

Q: It is obvious your companies are extremely innovative what other services do you offer that is different?
A: Our company is the leader in the industry for utilizing drones in our executive protection services and investigations. We currently have 3 certified FAA commercial drone pilots, have 10 drones, operate under part 107 of the FAA rules, we have a night wavier to fly operations at night, and currently working on other FAA waivers. We are utilizing drones for protective advances, surveillance, risk/vulnerability assessments, estate patrols, gathering intelligence, & supporting law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency disaster operations. With the use of drones, we can make better tactical decisions and the goal is to save lives of law enforcement, fire, and emergency responders.
Q: Tell us about an invitational only private Executive Protection event you held in Las Vegas?
A: It was an event where I only invited 5 people, each with 25 years’ experience in Executive Protection/Security to discuss where is our industry and try to elevate it. My goal is to do it every year and slowly expand it with only quality people and leaders. I only want to associate with quality people in the industry and keep my standards high.
